The book we are going to read using our literature circles is called Night by Elie Wiesel. It tells the true story of a young Jewish boy and his family who are caught up in the awful circumstances of WWII and the Holocaust.
What do you know about WWII and the Holocaust? What do you know about Jews and Nazis? What do you know about concentration camps?

I read this in 6th grade cuz I had already read the other book assigned.

i know that some people don't believe that it happened...i have also read a book on it, it was a diary of many children's expirences written by mostly themselves. other than that i don't know much.
Hitler is an evil man.
Aren't there some people that believe that the holocaust didn't even happen? Isn't this book proof?

This subject is still a little confusing for me. I'm not exactly sure if I'm right on this, but I hope I'm close. From what I know this subject revolves around how Jews were kidnapped by followers of Hitler, and then tortured and eventually killed cruelly. Hitler's goal was to eliminate the world of all Jews and any other religions/races that were not according to him, perfect. On that subject I think he's mad. No one should be killed, let alone harassed because of their religion or race.
I don't really know that much about this kind of stuff... All I know is that Hitler made some camps that were used to torture and kill Jewish dudes, and Jewish people did not like that. I heard a few stories about Jewish people in the camps and it doesn't seem like much fun...

What do you guys mean some people believe this never happened. Of course it did. Here's a book and isn't there a movie or textbook somewhere. There's text books on everything.

well i read this book in 6th grade because i had already red where the red fer grows. it was a good buck but it made me cry at times. The whole thing about the holocaust is a mess and it is really bad because hitler is a very evil man. at least i think that i don't know if other people think that to?

Well i know that it was a terrible time and a lot of people died and it was about the nazi and there was hitler and how he was trying to be the ruler and trying to get rid of the jews it was really bad! there was books i have read Ann Frank i read that book and number the stars and they were good books but sad so i am guessing this book will be good but sad...

Well, I do know that the Holocaust was a world-wide controversy. It was apart of World War II. Millions of Jewish citizens in Germany died. They were considered "inferior" to all other races. They were also falsely accused of large problems going on inside Germany.
The millions of Jewish people died in concentration camps. They gassed, shot, and tortured them to death. Gassing occurred inside showers, rooms, and various areas inside the camps. If an Jewish people tried to run, or avoid any sort of gassing and torture, they would be shot. Torturing also occurred in various places in camps.
There were also very many camps. None were the same, and they all had their own set of German soldiers working there and their own names to the camps.
I personally know many people who agreed with this, and were proud to kill many Jewish people.

In answer to your question Nikki. I think that the only people that are still trying to defy the facts of what really happened are the people that are being accused as the bad guys.
i dont know that much on this subject so i hope when i read the book its not too confusing!

it was super doooper sad you dont even know!!!
I know my great grand uncle Joe went to world war two and he died while he was over there:( they found his body two years later and when his body came home everything in skagit county came to a stop.
I also know that the holocaust was a really sad hard time for the jews. I know that Hitler was the leader of the nazi's and thats about it.
other than that i think this book well be really good :D

I personally DO believe it happened; but sometimes things are fabricated and you cannot trust EVERYTHING you read.
books aren't God :D They're just to help ya learn things you might not have thought about.

The apocalypse--oops, the Holocaust, was basically racially biased people/person(HITLER) going after the Jews. Not very nice... shaaaame...

i went to hitlers home in germany it is cald eagles nest but it was scary it was on top of a mountian so i was scared i was goin to fall off!
Hey kids just so you know - think about this. Hitler was a short, dark eyed and dark haired man. He wanted the "perfect race" or Aryan people, to rule, who would be tall, blond and blue eyed.
It shows the power of how people can use their words to get others to follow them - you'd think someone would have pointed out that - HELLO - Hitler should have exterminated himself since he didn't fit the mold!
