"The Sniper" TIQA paragraphs
Read the story "The Sniper" and do the worksheet that goes with it. When you are done, write a TIQA style paragraph on some aspect of this story like a trait of the main character, the setting, or the theme. Write this paragraph on the class blog.
The sniper was careless and lit a cigarette. He knew the risk and thought to himself "The flash might be seen in the darkness, and there were enemies watching," This shows he is careless because he knew there was a risk but he did it any way and it lead to the death of his brother and he was shot in the arm.
The sniper carelessly shot who he thought was his enemy but it was really his brother. when the sniper went over to see who the man that he shot was, "he turned over the dead body and looked into his brother's face." This shows that the sniper was being careless because he just predicted that the man was his enemy without truly caring who it was. In the end he must have felt bad for shooting his brother and being so careless.
The theme of the story is to not get yourself into dangerous situations. The Irony of the story is that when your a sniper you should be shooting the bad guy, yet the sniper's brother was the bad guy. The setting of the story is during twilight in the month of June. The sniper got himself into a dangerous situation when he lighted the cigarette. He thought "The Enemy might see the flash of the lighter." Even though he knew something might go wrong the Sniper still lit the cigarette. Eventually the Sniper killed the enemy who turned out to be his brother.
The sniper was extremly careless he took a leap of fait and he shot his brother. "he saw his brothers face when he looked at the man" this sets an example for how unsafe he was being. he is probley upset that he shot his brother.
The sniper was truly hungry. The man lay on the roof eating" eating hungrily". This shows the man was hungry because he had not eaten since that morning. Thats because he was so exsited.
The Sniper's instincts told him to kill whatever thing that comes near him or near the enemy. When the man he shot fell down and laid still he felt a curiosity as to the identity of the enemy Sniper whom he had killed...He wondered did he know him...turned oer the dead body and looked into his brother's face. This shoes that the Sniper's instinct to kill led him to be blinded of whom he killed. For that, he killed his brother by his own hands.
The sniper is hit by an enemy bullet. we know this because he says, "I'm hit!" he also has to bandage the wound, showing that it is a serious injury to the arm.
The snipper shows that he is in pain. The snipper looks down and sees that he has been hit and says "I've been hit". The snipper shows that he is hurting because he has been shot in the arm and can not lift up his riffle.
The Sniper In "The Sniper", the Free Stater sniper shows that he is in pain. The sniper looks down at his right forearm and says, "I've been hit." He shows pain because he flat-out states that he has been shot, and getting shot is very painful no matter what.
Sniper The sniper thinks that anyone fighting against him is the enemy but is isn't that way all of the time. the sniper kills the enemy sniper. He walks over to the dead corps turns it over and "looked into his brothers face." That shows that just because someone might be fighting against you doesn't make them your enemy.
The sniper was in shock to realize that the person he thought he thought was his enemy was his brother. The sniper looked at his dead enemy and decided that "he was a good shot, whoever he was." The sniper was in shock because the man that he had killed was his brother. This shows shock because he didn't know who his enemy really was.
The sniper thought only of winning the battle, but then thought about the other man. This is shown when the sniper kills the man on the other side without thinking about him until after he dies. He, "turns over the dead body and looked into his brother's face." This proves that he did not know who it was at first, until he started thinking about the poor now dead man.
The sniper notices that he is hurt .The sniper looks down at his forearm and says "I've been hit." The sniper shows that he is wounded because he is in pain.
The Sniper is proud of what he is because he was used of looking at death. He was sitting by himself with a riffle in hand eating a sandwich and it said, "He hasn't eaten all day because he's been too excited. In the end though he must have not been happy of what he was because he killed his brother.
The Sniper was used to looking at death, and was very proud of it.The Sniper had a riffle in his hand, while eating a sandwich, and said "I was to excited to eat at all today!"
the sniper was very careless hr thought he was going to kill the enemy but it was his brother!!After he had killed the man he wanted to go over and see what he had done "he turned over the body and looked into his brothers face.." it shows that he didn't care about what was going on around him ans he didn't think about anything!!
The Sniper felt guilty after he killed the man who was his "enemy." The text says, "The lust of battle died in him." This shows he knows something was wrong about what he did to the enemy.
The sniper was very careless for a trained professional.the quote "he turned over the dead body and looked into his brothers face"shows that. Instead of checking to make sure it was the enemy he was shooting at he simply shot whoever he saw and the perso he killed turned out to be his brother.
The sniper wanted to shoot his enemy so bad, he didnt cae who it was. "It was his brother". He went to see who it was that he killed and it, sadly, turned out to be his brother, who happened to be on teh other side. Ironic.
The sniper no longer wanted to fight in the war. When he saw the old woman die, "the lust of the battle died in him." This shows that the sniper was tired of the fighting and killing in the war he was involved in.
